July Trip

Filed under Uncategorized on Sunday July 26, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Tim and I went up North last weekend for a Portland visit. His band from High School – Danny and the Originals – had their 25 year reunion and I walked in the Relay for Life with my friend Jennifer. I had an especially nice visit with my parents. My mom just had knee replacement surgery and was feeling really good. We ate out every day! I think she was ready to get out since she was cooped up for months! We also had a great time with Tim’s family. Chrissy and JR had everyone down to Canby for wonderful shrimp dinner and some margaritas that knocked me on my ass! I’m old! I visited with my friend Elizabeth, who I miss so much!  This visit was very nostalgic for me for some reason.

As soon as we got back, we had to pack up and get out! Our place was exterminated on Thursday for termites. What a pain! Jon and Al took our cat Sue Ann and the little kitties went to the vet. We stayed at the Elan in West LA, which was really  nice. We got back in yesterday and unpacked and cleaned! I’m so glad to be home! 1 comment

Relay for Life

I want to thank everyone – Dad and Mom, Tim, JR, Rich, Cathy, Judy and Pat, Kurt, Jennifer, Erica, David, Steven and Adam, Paul and Paul and Bobbie, Susan, Fran, Erik and Patty, Jodey, Jon and Al, Michael and Daniel – for supporting me in the Relay for Life walk! On Saturday, 146 teams will walk for 24 hours. So far, 125k has been raised for cancer research. Here is my page, if you’d like to donate:

I read an interesting article in “Prevention Magazine” this month. Only 5-7% of women develop breast cancer based on heredity. Dr. Susan Love and Avon created a research group called the Army of Women:

www.armyofwomen.org.

The goal is get one million women to join and participate in research studies – and they want a mix of people with cancer and without. I’ve never had breast cancer, but thought it would be an excellent way to help women. I joined this morning. You can pick and choose how you participate. Some studies will ask to send a questionnaire and others are more intensive.

Our friend Judy got her real estate license last year and her business is booming! Check out this billboard of her and an associate up on Wilshire! I’ve never known anyone to have a billboard before so I had to share! If you need a good agent in the LA area, let me know and I can hook you up. She’s honest and works hard!

Happy 4th of July and Congratulations Roger Federer!!!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We went to a crab boil at our Friend Shaun and Jodey’s house – orchestrated by Judy! My brother flew down for the occasion, which made it extra special! It was one of the hottest days on record, but as soon as the sun set, it was a perfect evening. We had a view of the fireworks from the Starlight Bowl in Burbank, which were spectacular! I really don’t know how Judy does it! The day was so much fun and she has a way of bringing everyone together!

My brother is a big tennis fan. Before he left on Sunday, we had a little brunch and watched Federer and Roddick battle it out for the final. It was a match for the history books! I was sad to see Rich go at the end of the weekend!
